Located at the base of a natural sandstone crest that runs through the heart of Billings, this home presents a clean & modern interpretation to the Italian Villa. The residence was designed around a simple open floor plan. It was important to the clients that the windows were tall to allow natural light to penetrate the home's interior and give it a light and airy feel. Private patios on the north and west side of the home are cut into the hillside offering protection from both sound and wind.
The Rancher on Iron Horse is the first development project under ARCH.406. The 12,000sf property was triangular in shape, and only had a build-able area of 4,000 square feet. In addition to area limitations, the site also had a significant grade.
This once "worthless" lot was able to support a custom ranch-style farmhouse along with an easy-to-maintain yard, patio area, exposed wood trellising and vibrant interior color.

The interior remodel at Saddleback Trail involved extensive work to the kitchen, living room, and dining room. Initially outdated and poorly laid out, this home was re-organized to optimize the spaces on the main level; including opening the kitchen to the living and dining rooms. In addition to the modified layout of the space, we updated the cabinets, countertops, flooring, lighting, appliances, and added unique architectural elements like the coffers in the ceiling & the craftsman details around the fireplace.
